Frequently Asked Virtual Bankruptcy Questions
Q. What is a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant (VBA)?
A. A Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant, or VBA, as we are commonly called, is an administrative professional/consultant that is capable of performing a variety of administrative tasks from a remote location. A VBA specializes in drafting bankruptcy petitions.
Q. Why should I consider using a VBA?
A. A VBA's knowledge base and experience can save you time and money! VBA's save you the costs that are incurred when hiring an in-house employee (i.e., benefits, vacation pay, taxes). A VBA only invoices you for completed petitions.
Q. Wouldn't it be considered fee sharing if I use a VBA?
A. No. VBA's are independent contractors. Teaming with a VBA would be the similar to hiring an assistant or company to do transcription. The VBA is compensated by the firm or attorney. The services are not billable to the client.
Q. I already have an assistant. Should I still partner with a VBA?
A. Your assistant may have an overflow of work. You may have a backlog of cases. VBA's work diligently to keep you up-to-date and to streamline the workflow. Your current assistant, with the aid of a VBA, will be able to focus on client relations and the organization of the office.
Q. How can you assist me if you are not physically in the office?
A. We use Bankruptcy Case for petition drafting. Also, modern technology has made it possible for VBA's to work remotely for any firm. Fax, email, IM's, filesharing, and software used to log on to a distant computer, enables us to keep in contact and access information that may only be available on your office computer.
